Study Reveals Cannabis Allows The Body Absorb More Pain.

Study from the University of Oxford reveals that Cannabis allows the body absorb more pain and can actually make patients less bothered by pain.

The researchers discovered that the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis reduced activity in a part of the brain linked to emotional aspects of pain.

According to Dr Michael Lee, the lead study author from Oxford University’s Centre for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain, the Cannabis plant does not seem to act like a conventional pain medicine as some people respond really well while others didn’t respond at all and some responded poorly. He further added that cannabis appears to mainly affect the emotional reaction to pain in a highly variable way.

A senior lecturer in pain medicine at Glasgow University Mick Serpell, said the study which was funded by the UK Medical Research Council and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Oxford Biomedical Research Centre confirmed what was already known.
